This song was written sometime in 2003 years ago on a couch at Kupa’aina percussionist Babatunji Heath and his wife Maggie Chang’s home in Kaimukī, Oʻahu. It was written with spirit, delivery and attitude of Sir Ice Cube of Los Angeles, California.
The lyrics describe the contradiction of the fairy tales of our youth and the often ironic and dark reality of life.
This song is usually performed with just an ʻukulele and whatever instruments are in the room. The production of this song pursued the grit and sound of Ice Cube while retaining the ʻukulele as its foundation.
